Engineer – Paint Booth Modifications & Construction

Location Blue Springs, MS — 100% Onsite
Duration 12-Month Contract (Potential Extension)
Schedule Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hrs/week)
Travel Up to 10% — domestic and international (vendors, sister sites)
Overtime ~20% required (weekend and shutdown support)
Education BS in Engineering (Mechanical/Chemical/relevant), technical trade cert, or equivalent

 

About This Role

A leading automotive manufacturer is seeking an execution-focused Engineer for modifications and construction activities within paint booths at its Blue Springs, MS facility. You will execute and manage paint booth modification projects — including structural and airflow improvements — working with sheet metal structures and large components inside the booth environment. From investigating feasibility and developing scopes of work and bid packages, through reviewing technical drawings, negotiating changes, and supervising contractors in green-field and brown-field environments, you will drive projects to completion against schedule milestones and safety-code compliance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Execute and manage paint booth modification projects, including structural and airflow improvements
  • Work with sheet metal structures and large components inside the booth environment
  • Investigate project feasibility, scope, schedule, and budget
  • Create scope of work, bid package, and project specifications
  • Review technical drawings, provide feedback, and negotiate changes
  • Evaluate safety compliance to local and national codes
  • Collaborate with 3rd-party Safety Compliance Contractors
  • Collaborate with multiple groups to design and install equipment and meet project milestones
  • Supervise contractors in a green-field or brown-field work environment
  • Coordinate installation with skilled trades, affiliate companies, engineers, and equipment manufacturers
  • Develop countermeasures for project delays for timely project completion

 

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or relevant discipline), technical trade certification, or equivalent experience
  • Hands-on engineering background combined with trade experience (practical, execution-focused)
  • 3+ years in a manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of project management, preferably managing projects valued at $500K or more
  • Commercial construction experience
  • 2+ years of technical drawing review experience; AutoCAD proficiency (review/modify)
  • Bid spec development and contractor negotiation; Microsoft Office proficient
  • Preferred: OSHA 10/30; automotive paint process; sheet metal / trades; controlled environments (paint booths); airflow & environmental controls; utility cost calculation
